Temple Beth Shalom, December 11th at 12pm - I will be playing some klezmer and Channukkah favorites with accordionist Deborah Ungar of the Rumelia band based here in Santa Fe during TBS's latke lunch. Channukkah will still be 2 weeks off, but any excuse to eat latkes and listen to klezmer, in my opinion, is a good one.
Channukkah on the Plaza, December 25th at 3pm - Organized by Santa Fe's own Chabad Center for Jewish Life, I will once again be teaming up with Deborah Ungar to bring the spirit of Channukkah to the plaza bandstand. Plenty of latkes, gelt, and other sweet treats are sure to be in store as well as some raucous Jewish music, and perhaps a sing-along or two.
Chabad Center for Jewish Life, December 28th at 6pm - The Jewish Women's Circle of Santa Fe is throwing what is sure to be a wild Channukkah party at our local Chabad. Latkes, candy, klezmer... you get the idea. I'll be serenading the event and eating all the latkes I can possibly stuff in my mouth. Assuming I can still eat latkes by that time... Yeah I'll always be able to eat more latkes.
Don't worry Christmas celebraters, I haven't forgotten about you! It's kind of hard to anyway. I'll be playing a variety of Christmas music with my bandmate Dalton "Slayer" Dunn around the streets of Santa Fe. Look for us around the plaza and at Burro Alley before "Nutcracker" shows at the Lensic where we'll be showcasing our bluegrass versions of classic Tchaikovsky tunes!
No but really though, it's going to be awesome. Whether you're a Channukkah person, a Christmas person, or even a Christmukkah person, I'm guarenteed to have something in my repetoire you'll enjoy. Till then, have a safe, happy holiday season Santa Fe!
